About Local Datasets

Local Datasets are dashboard-specific data definitions that provide flexibility and quick iteration capabilities for individual dashboards. They are designed to:

  • Enable rapid prototyping and development
  • Provide dashboard-specific customization
  • Support iterative development processes

Dashboard-Specific Storage

Unlike Global Datasets, Local Datasets:

  • Live outside the Data Library
  • Are specific to individual dashboards
  • Can be modified without affecting other dashboards

Promotion to Global Datasets

When a Local Dataset proves valuable across multiple dashboards:

  1. Access the Dashboard Datasets panel
  2. Select the Local Dataset you want to promote
  3. Use the “Copy to Data Library” option
  4. The dataset will be available as a Global Dataset

When promoting a Local Dataset to a Global Dataset, remember that any variables defined in the Local Dataset will need to be remapped in the Global Dataset version.
